Day1 Solutions Acquires VAZATA’s Public Sector Business Unit and Establishes a Strategic Alliance Designed to Fuel Growth for Both Providers

MCLEAN, Va., June 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Day1 Solutions, the cloud services and solutions expert, today announced the acquisition of VAZATA’s public sector business unit, the company’s fourth acquisition in eight months. As part of the transaction, Day1 Solutions acquired VAZATA’s FedRAMP Ready Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) offering, FedRAMP based solutions, data center colocation space in Northern Virginia along with related customers. VAZATA will continue to operate in the Northern Virginia data center and pursue opportunities in the enterprise market. In addition, the companies have formed a strategic alliance to pursue hybrid cloud opportunities.

Stephen R. Kovac, formerly Executive Vice President of Strategy for VAZATA and a veteran of the Federal hosting and cloud industry, will also join Day1 Solutions’ leadership team as Vice President of Data Center Services leading the new data center services business unit. Mr. Kovac will be accountable for growing the company’s hybrid cloud, colocation, and FedRAMP initiatives. In addition he will also support the strategic alliance between Day1 Solutions and VAZATA.

“Day1 Solutions’ new data center services business unit and FedRAMP Ready solutions will significantly contribute to another year of record growth for our public sector, managed services and big data practice areas,” said Luis Benavides, founder and CEO of Day1 Solutions. “Customers and partners choose Day1 Solutions because we start with the cloud and integrate the enterprise data center strategy across public, private and hybrid cloud environments to maximize agility and return on investment. The partnership with VAZATA strengthens the breadth and depth of our cloud solutions, leveraging best-of-breed cloud infrastructure to meet mission critical customer requirements and with Stephen’s leadership, will accelerate growth for both companies.”

“Our goal is to receive Provisional Authority to Operate certification for our Infrastructure as a Service offering from the FedRAMP Joint Authorization Board this summer,” said Stephen Kovac, vice president of data center services at Day1 Solutions. “It has taken some time, but FedRAMP certification is being viewed by customers as an industry standard now, not only in government but also in commercial markets where compliance requirements are key to the adoption of cloud. Our team’s industry knowledge and years of experience will provide essential continuity to our customers across various markets, support FedRAMP operational certification, and fuel growth in our data center services partner ecosystem with leading companies such as VAZATA.”

“We’re very excited about the partnership with Day1 Solutions,” said Lance Black, CEO of VAZATA. “More and more of our customers operating on our highly secure and compliant cloud platform are interested in leveraging a true public cloud solution to support their test and development or pre-production environments. Our partnership with Day1 Solutions enables our combined customer base to take advantage of the flexibility provided by a hybrid cloud solution.”

The Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) is a government-wide program that provides a standardized approach to security assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring for cloud products and services. With a baseline set of agreed upon standards for cloud solutions, government customers can move to the cloud with greater speed and increased confidence in security. Securing Joint Authorization Board (JAB) Provisional Authorization (P-ATO) compliance for Day1 Solutions’ new collocation facility will expand the company’s solutions portfolio and will enable the company to serve a broader set of government and commercial customers.
